Presenter

Bittner, Florian
Fraunhofer IWU
Florian Bittner, born in 1988, studied material science and engineering at Dresden technical university and received this diploma in 2013. Afterwards, he joined the magnetic materials group at Leibnitz Institute of Solid state and materials research, Institute of Metallic Materials as a junior scientist. Working fields there were Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets as well as novel rare earth free permanent magnets. In 2017, he received his doctorate with the topic “Microstructure-property relationship of permanent magnetic Mn-Al alloys”. For his dissertation, he received the “Tschirnhaus medal” of the Leibnitz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research. In 2017, he joined the Fraunhofer Institute of Machine Tools and Forming Technology in Dresden, department of additive manufacturing. Besides permanent magnets in particular, his scientific interests are the microstructure-property relationship of metallic materials processed by additive manufacturing and the transfer of new structural and functional materials in the laser powder bed fusion process.
