Dr. Jinwu Kang is an associate professor of School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University. He received his Ph.D from Tsinghua University in 1999 and has then been a faculty of Tsinghua University. During May, 2001 to Jan. 2003, he was a visiting research scientist at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA. He has been doing the research about the modeling and simulation of casting and heat treatment processes of castings. He proposed the description methods for the deformation of castings, intensive riser cooling of castings after their solidification, and 3D printed hollow mold for castings to realize controlled cooling at whole scale. The deformation control technology of heavy blade castings has been used in The Three Gorges Project, China, the largest hydro power station in the world. He has published more than 170 papers in journals and on international conferences. He got four academic awards from the Ministry of Education, China and local governments for his distinguished research.
